Monterey FPV Experience Common Questions
Got a question that's not here? Email contact@montereyfpv.com and we'll get you an answer within 24 hours.
Do I need any experience?
None. Most of our pilots are first-timers. Every session starts with a full briefing and a structured progression — line of sight first, then goggles. By the end, you'll be flying confidently.
Where exactly is the flight location?
A private outdoor site near Monterey, CA. To preserve the location and the experience, exact coordinates and directions are sent via email once your booking is confirmed.
What's the difference between the 30-min and 1-hour packages?
FLT-30 is a perfect intro — get comfortable on the sticks and have your first goggle-on FPV moment. FLT-60 doubles your stick time, includes advanced maneuvers, multiple battery packs for maximum airtime, and a fully edited highlight reel of your flight.
Is there an age limit?
Pilots must be 12 or older. Anyone under 18 needs a parent or guardian present and signing a waiver. We've had twelve-year-olds out-fly thirty-year-olds, so don't worry about skill.
What happens if the weather is bad?
Heavy wind, rain, or unsafe conditions = free reschedule, no questions asked. Monterey weather is famously moody, so we plan around it.
Can I bring people to watch?
Absolutely. Friends, family, partners — bring them along. The view from the ground is wild too, especially when they slip on a spectator goggle and see what you're seeing.
What should I wear or bring?
Comfortable closed-toe shoes, layers (Monterey microclimates), sunglasses, and water. We provide everything else — drone, goggles, controller, instruction.
How do I pay?
No payment up front. Once we confirm your slot, we send an invoice you can pay online. Easy.
Do you film the flight?
Yes. The drone records 4K footage during your flight. The 30-min package includes a snippet of your flight; the 1-hour package includes a fully edited highlight reel.
What if I crash the drone?
Don't worry about it. Minor bumps are part of FPV and we plan for them. Major damage is rare with the Avata 2's prop guards and obstacle sensing — and it's covered by us, not you, as long as you're following the briefing.
